I think it's the bees knees for some people and for others it's not preferable. No biggie :) I get Twitter, it's just not for me. I love twitter because it is better than both forums and IM in my opinion. Forums can sometimes feel a bit formal and hard to break into as a new person, big introductions and trying to get in with the 'cool kids' etc. On the other hand I don't even use an IM client any more because I hated people jumping on me and wanting to talk constantly for hours. Also why I mostly avoid the phone. With twitter, you can just hop right on and follow someone, say a quick 'Hi!' as a greeting and get to know them 'naturally' as you find things in common. You can have fast IM like chats but you are also free to walk away at any point and come back at any point too. It's a very free kind of social networking :) Hey look, I just followed you AND I’m posting on your blog (pixelsnake) :P
